Trail Condition Report
North Arm Ski Trails The North Arm Trails are skier-tracked trails and so are classic in every sense of the word (though skate skiing can be fabulous in late winter on the hard crusted lakes). Because they are not machine groomed, they can be challenging at times even for intermediately skilled skiers. They are the most beautiful in the area as they roll up and down over forested ledge rock and across lakes through the wilderness. The trails are easy to follow and each intersection has a ‘you are here’ map. Beginner skiers can first test their proficiency on the Moose Horn Loops.
Users should check on current ice conditions and proceed with caution on the lakes as ice conditions can change rapidly. Current Conditions and Comments:
Date: 2-4-08
As I write this, the North Arm Trails are somewhat icy and fast. In-other-words, we need some fresh snow to make the ski track nicer and safer. January 28th was a day whose temperatures climbed into the 30’s followed by a light rain which brought slick conditions. Since then only a few snow dustings have improved the trails some but not a lot. Better news is that the lakes are great for skiing as the slush has frozen, and we’re expecting 1-4” of snow tomorrow (Tuesday) which should make the trails really nice again.
